Bloomberg's at it again

Post by jmorris »

A sting to expose a "gun show loophole". What he's going after is those states that allow "occasional sellers" at gun shows and don't require them to do background checks. And those occasional sellers that continue with the sale even when informed that the buyer couldn't pass a background check. As I understand it an occasional seller is not an individual that shows up at a gun show with one or two weapons to sell, but a non-FFL who on occasion sets up a table with a few weapons at a gun show.

Those who sold guns to the person after he indicated he could not pass the background check broke existing laws. Those who allowed straw purchases broke existing laws. I fail to see how "closing the gun show loophole" would stop this. These same people would just sell privately off the internet, out of their homes, etc instead.
You do wish, though, that these idiots would realize the anti gun crowd would be at gun shows with cameras trying to catch this sort of thing. I imagine homeland security has agents at them too.

Bloomberg is just looking for publicity. He said there would be no legal action taken, but that's because he can't take said legal action. He's an idiot. Gun shows are NOT where the vast majority of illegal gun purchases are made. Pretty much any local newspaper you care to mention will have a GUNS section in their classifieds, and bad guys will usually just steal a gun if he wants one. It's too bad the news media doesn't report the whole story.

I saw that news story on FoxNews yesterday when it was airing. There were some vendors who acted illegally, and some vendors who acted legally by refusing to sell a gun to the guy who couldn't pass the b.g. check.

There will always be people who act illegally, and the vast majority of people who act legally. "Closing the gun show loophole" by banning all gun shows to stop those few vendors selling illegally is ludicrous, and you and I know it. And so does the Bloomberg people, Mayors Against Illegal Guns(oh gag me), the Brady Campaign, and others etc, ad nauseum. The issue is to simply enforce existing laws.

Those entities simply want to disarm America, pure and simple. Little do they realize(and I find it somewhat humorous) that all of their collective efforts are in vain, for they will never be able to change one of the most fundamental rights bestowed upon us by our Founding Fathers, and our Constitution.
