Strange theory on child abductions

There are about 100-130 child abductions per year, but in the 1980s there were 200-300. This may be because parents are more diligent in keeping kids in sight today, than when I grew up in the '70s and '80s where I would get kicked out of the house on Saturday morning and not be expected back until lunch or when the streetlights came on.

According to the FBI and The US Dept. of Justice:

* 800,000 juveniles (under 18) are reported missing each year, but this includes runaways.
* "Family kidnapping" accounts for nearly 50% of all child kidnappings.
* Approximately 80% of acquaintance and stranger kidnappings are sexually motivated.
* For every 10,000 missing child reports (including runaways) around one child was killed, according to the U.S. Justice Department in 1990.

Though horrifying for those 100-130 children and for society as a whole, the number does seem small, especially considering that there are 40 million children in the US. This would place the odds of a child being kidnapped and held or killed by a stranger at 1 in 347,000.

And then just this morning on the news, sexual assaults and rapes are down across the state and in Dallas.

Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.

I apologize if this borders too far into a religious discussion for the board. The OP is getting at the root mindset and understanding of the most heinous of criminals and their motivations, which is going to involve anybody's foundational worldview to help interpret. I will not pursue this topic further in this thread. . . to defend or to clarify it. I felt my input was valid for the topic as the only way to explain the evil surrounding us all. It started in Genesis 3 and is explained further in the verse I quoted.
