I can't tell if this was state or federal court.

That is great news for the officers and the city. The sad fact is that these officers lives have been placed on hold for over a year, waiting for this outcome.

I wonder what the monetary cost was to the officers for defending themselves against this lawsuit?
If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen. Samuel Adams

Thanks.

The antiquated language does require careful reading.

Blackstone's words are a defense to almost any charge, whether murder, wrongful death, or civil rights violation, committed in defense of one's life or limb.

However, if you search for the phrase "fear of one's life," you will see that it is not a defense to the injury or death of an innocent third party.

I think either the police union or the city covers lawsuits against individual officers in cases like this. Perhaps someone knows the details better.

Fear, anger, hatred, and greed. The devil's all-you-can-eat buffet.
