Seven women in League City have reported that their purses were stolen from their unlocked vehicles while they dropped their kids off at day care.

No matter where you are, an unlocked car with anything valuable in it, is an open invitation. How much easier could they have made it for the BG's?

They could have left their purse on the roof and the key in the ignition, I guess.

The (ahem) "alleged" burglar was wearing a GPS locator because he was on parole for robbery. :banghead:

"Immediately after the theft, before the victim had the chance to report anything missing, the credit cards would be used at nearby gas stations. The person using the cards wouldn’t risk going inside the store, so there was no surveillance footage that might reveal his face."

What ever happened to cameras watching the pumps?

A hat, sunglasses, and a fake beard will solve that problem.

In Grapevine, Southlake, and Hickory Creek there was a group of
teenagers who were stealing from cars. Their MO was to simply open
up all cars whose doors were unlocked.

They never broke windows or used tools to enter vehicles. They took
GPS units and anything else that looked good to them.

The cops found a large stash of stolen good when they eventually caught
them. The piece of the story that would have been of interest to me is
HOW the cops found out they were the perps. That wasn't detailed.

Usually they brag, and word gets around to someone with a conscience who drops a dime on them.

This is called 'car hopping' where they will just rummage through unlocked vehicles and take anything they can sell or want themselves. Normally they don't break in unless something triggers their interest, like a GPS, iPod or laptop computer laying in the open.

I was a victim about 18 months ago. They DID break into my car. There was a red LED glowing on a power adapter down in the lower console area and I think they thought I had left my radar detector in the car. Pretty sure it was kids as they were VERY sloppy on their breaking in and probably from somewhere in the local neighborhood. :mad5
