Re: So, I locked my wife in the trunk
I thought this thread was a lead in to the old test for determining who is really your best friend, your wife or your dog. Lock them both in the trunk of your car for an hour and see who is happy to see you when you let them out...

You might want to put Pop-a-lock's phone number on your cell phone.TLE2 wrote:I've tried the tricks you talk about but they didn't work on my pickup truck.... what gives?

Whew!!! I read the topic title, and thought this was leading up to a tale of some weird roleplaying game....

I suppose you could lock me in the back of my SUV if you wanted to, but I'd just climb over the back seat and open the door.
True Story...
One of my best friends from high school was a lifer in the Navy, and he wound up working toward the end of his career for armed forces television, broadcasting out of Riverside, California, which is near where he lived when the following happened to him around 1988-1990.
Bill lived in an Apartment complex, where vehicle parking was under a sort of covered carport. One night, as he was going out to buy some sundries, he was accosted next to his car by two men and two women, armed with a shotgun. They demanded his car keys, and ordered him at gunpoint into the trunk of his own car. Bill got in and they locked it closed, and then they started driving. He could tell that they were driving up into the mountains because his ears started to pop and clear, and it started to get quite a bit colder. They finally pulled his car over in a dirt turnout, and all 4 BGs started arguing amongst themselves, and Bill overheard the entire conversation. The guys were arguing for dragging him out of the truck, executing him with the shotgun, and dumping his body over the side of the mountain. The girls were pleading for his life, saying that getting away with his car wasn't worth killing him over. It seems the girls won out, because finally, the four got back in the car and drove back down the mountain. They abandoned the car on a side street in Riverside, and before walking away, the BG leader opened the trunk and told Bill to keep quiet because they were coming back, and if he made any noise they'd kill him for sure. Bill said he waited like that, locked in the trunk of his car all night long, and they never came back. Along about mid-morning the next day, some kids were playing in the street right next to the car, Bill heard them, and he started hollering for help. One of the kids went and called the cops, and they came and got him out.
To this day, my friend Bill has PTSD from it. He was medically discharged from the Navy, and now he lives as a hermit way up in Yucca Valley. I think he maybe drinks a bit too. Four shmucks with a shotgun ruined a man's life without ever firing a shot.

cracks me up that my 2000 Miata has a trunk release thingy inside the trunk, given that anyone old enough to operate that lever cannot possibly be fit into that trunk! I guess in case a pre-teen contortionist gets stuck in there, they'll be able to use that lever.
