Here's the section of Texas CHL law that DOES make parking lots an identified category.

Page 47 of the Texas CHL law link, in PDF format, section PC 46.035, # 3.

"Premises means a building or a portion of a building.
The term does not include any private or public driveway, street, sidewalk or walkway,
parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area."

I couldn't do a direct copy and paste from the PDF file, so I transcribed it word for word.

My point is that you implied in your original post that parking lots had some special exemption from 30.06 as well and they don't. As has been pointed out by Mr. Rothstein, 51% may or may not cover the parking lot of a business. I guess where I am going with this is that there is no blanket exemption for parking lots.

I realize that you may leave your weapon in your vehicle in parking lots,
per the statute quoted above, and I also realize that a 30.06 would negate that.

The GENERAL rule that I stated in my OP is still true: that you can leave your weapon
in your vehicle in a parking area, as long as the parking lot itself is not posted 30.06.

A parking lot posted 30.06 appears to be a rarity.

The reason that I put it in 3 posts is that when entering text on a page gets
to a certain point, the bottom of the entry page starts getting jiggy.

To the point where I can't easily see what I'm typing on the bottom line, and
the page acts so quirky that it's easier to finish up that screen and start another one.

I don't think it's hard to read. It's just a little "page down" or an arrow down, just like when
we read an ongoing thread.

I'm guessing you use Mozilla Firefox and zoom in? (Even if you use another browser - that's a symptom of zooming in or using a lower resolution than the developer expected you to.) I've got terrible vision (sitting 18" from a 27" widescreen and still have to zoom in to read a lot of stuff), so I see it all the time.

If I'm wrong. . . well. . . at least I can tell you that I've seen what you're describing. :coolgleamA:

That's why I like to do long posts in notepad or OpenOffice Writer and then cut/paste it into the post.
