That's great that you have 3 GSD's. We used to have a German Shepherd named Tess. 84 pounds, then
she got even bigger. She was bought as a puppy from someone in Kaufman County, near Terrell, TX.

She was smart as a whip, gentle, but super protective without being scary at an improper time.

One night I was opening the sliding glass door so she could do her business in the fenced-in backyard,
before we all went to bed.

Unbeknownst to me, a coyote had somehow jumped our 6 foot stockade fence and was in the backyard.

Tess went from drowsy and quiet to immediately being shot out of a cannon. She went after that coyote
with intense ferocity and protectiveness. It was quite awesome. The coyote jumped over the fence, out of
our yard, before Tess gave him a can of whoop-you know what.

Windcrest is on the NE edge of San Antonio.

Police dog Rocky disappeared, then was found by a man who trains
military dogs at Lackland AFB.

Maybe Rocky smelled the other dogs on the trainer and went straight
to him to check things out?

I have a Dutch Shepherd which is very similar to the Belgian Malinois. Only about 400 Dutchies registered in the United States each year.The Dutch Shepherd just has a little more German Shepherd. The dog in the clip is a Malinois, the Dutch Shepherd typically being a lot darker, except for the Black Mal.

I do Wilderness Search and Rescue. These breeds are unbelievably fast, strong, hardworking dogs with super scent and drive ability. Recently visited with a group of military dog handlers at a McDonalds in Little Rock. Took a poll, they had 6 Mals and 3 German Shepherds. Clear preference for the Mals.

I think the black Malinois you speak of is a Groenendael and has long hair, though, right? They are two of four different versions of the Belgian Shepherd. I've only seen a handful of Dutch Shepherds and they are also cool dogs. In addition to the temperament, I especially like the coloring.
