Bad number on TR-100

Post by Wilson »

Monday my wife’s renewal application had “Application incomplete - missing information - detailed letter has been sent. posted online. After waiting five days for a letter that never arrived, she finally called today. She was informed that she would need to contact the instructor that completed her TR-100 as the number on the form had been previously issued. She called the training facility and they say that the number appears to be correct.

We are hoping the state entered the number into the computer incorrectly. Otherwise her status will need to be changed to Ping-Pong ball :???:

We just got a call from the CHL training facility. They called Austin and tell us that everything is now OK, with no action required by the wife. When ask what was wrong with the number on the TR-100 form, they were told that there was a problem with the instructor’s signature. This was very different from the information we were provided only hours earlier. I wonder if we will ever receive the letter that was supposedly mailed July 24th. and what it will say if we do.

We will never know what actually happened. In any event the state informed the training facility that her application was back in processing but allow and additional 60 days. The registered (insured for $1,000) renewal application was received by the state July 12th. I guess it could have been worse (12 days lost) if the wife hadn’t followed up as quickly as she did.

Guys, it is very important to check the TR-100 before sending it in. Instructors are just people. You fill out enough of them, and you will screw up one or two along the way.

When I hand out the TR-100s and the certificates at the end of the class, I tell everyone "Please look this over. Make sure your name is spelled correctly, and exactly as it is on your driver's license. Make sure your driver's license number and certificate number are correct. Make sure I signed it in 2 places. Make sure you signed it."

I always apologize if someone catches a mistake I made, but I would sure rather have the student find it than the DPS.

We have a photo copy of the TR-100 and all signatures are in place. The Instructor signed in two places and his signatures do seem quite different but I find it hard to believe it was rejected for that. If I had a wild imagination, I would think Austin (see orig. post) entered the certificate number incorrectly. Then when we called they switched the reason for the delay to a problem with the instructor’s signature. In any event, the wife’s online status is now “Processing Application without her submitting any additional paper work.

As of Aug 12th the wife’s online status reads “Application Completed - license issued or certificate active, so it looks like that little TR-100 problem evaporated, thank goodness

Good to hear! Its reassuring to see that folks are getting their permits a little faster. I am going to take the class about two weeks from now and would like to have my permit by Halloween

The wife’s CHL arrived in the mail today. That is 37 days (27 working days) from the date the state received her renewal package (July 12) until she had her new CHL in hand. Obviously the state didn’t add 60 days because of the TR-100 booboo.
