Forgotten History: Joan of Arc's sniper

Post by seamusTX »

The siege of the city of Orleans, France, took place in 1429. The siege was famously ended by Joan of Arc, who was later martyred.

Legend has it that a certain Jehan de Montesiler fought on behalf of the French and used a very primitive gun to wreak havoc on the British forces. This event, if it really occurred, was several years before the first credibly documented use of firearms in battle in Europe.

I have never been able to correct you yet, Jim, but I will try. I really do not think your post is "Off Topic." :???:

I caught this piece by John Lienhard. Fascinating, as most of his pieces are.
