The above website is the work of a man named Graham Showell. He was born 3/76
and lives in a small town near Birmingham, England.

The aim of his website is to educate people in the UK about the damage that
has been caused to honorable citizens by being disarmed by their government.
He advocates that UK folks should be allowed to re-arm to fight their growing crime.

After reading most all of the entries on his site, I hit the "Contact Me" button on the
bottom of his Home page. I sent him a few paragraphs of encouragement in his efforts
to make handguns legal again for UK citizens. Graham's photo is on the "Contact Me" page,
so you can see what he looks like.

I recommended that he look at the websites nra.org, clayton cramer's, and the TexasCHLForum
and told him that I am a member of the forum. Please mention your affilation with our forum so
that he can tie us together in his mind.

We in the US should feel blessed that we have our 2A rights, and the ability to have any handgun or
other weapon of our choice.

Please find it in your hearts to send Graham an email with some kind words and encouragement in
his mission. He has an uphill battle, and I believe that he would be heartened by a bunch of Texans
cheering him on.

If you are reading this - welcome to our forum. We discuss many gun issues
here, as well as the minutiae behind the Texas CHL (Concealed Handgun License) legal
code.

As part of the attempt to bring legal handgun ownership back to the British populace,
a key component would be to also legalize, in writing, what we in the US tend to refer
to as "The Castle Doctrine". A man's home is his castle, as well as his business, and his
motor vehicle.

An honest citizen should not have to retreat from an evildoer. The honest
citizen may stand his ground, and use deadly force against home invaders, evildoers with
deadly weapons, and to defend against a "disparity of force" that could lead to death or
injury. Disparity of force could included, but not be limited to: a large crook against a smaller
man or woman, multiple attackers, or a younger man against a wheelchair-ridden person.

At such time that honorable British citizens are able to legally re-arm themselves, the public
must realize that for the first few years, there will be troublesome yobs and chavs (English
low life criminals) who will be shot and wounded or shot DRT (Dead Right There). After some
publicity about shopkeepers shooting thieves, the crime should calm down in due time.

It's unfortunate for British and Australians that an ill-informed gun grab has given the upper
hand to criminals.

It is quite sad as from what little I know, the origins of codifying the idea that an individual has the right and obligation to maintain arms in defense of home and family began in Jolly-old disarmed England.

I sent Graham an email of encouragement and do hope he joins the forum. What a brave man to take on this issue publicly. Really makes you appreciate the 2nd Amendment and realize how precarious our position is in light of the views of the rest of the "civilized" world.

Reading the britainneedsguns.co.uk website of Graham's is a real wakeup call as to
what could happen if we in the US let our guard down versus the anti's.

While we here on our forum bicker about 9mm vs .40 vs. .45 and holster fashions,
and Glocks vs. 1911's, the people of England are DISARMED. They have no effective
firearm protection from evildoers with knives, machetes, swords, and guns.

Thank your lucky stars that we are Americans - and the Texan flavor with full
2A and CHL pleasures included.

As a reminder - Australians have also been disarmed, like the UK.

As a descendant of Scots who have been in America since before 1750 (almost 100%, with a few traces of Cherokee and some German in-laws), I am horribly ashamed that Scotland fought for its own independent parliament, then outlawed the sgian dubh. The newly "independent" Scotland has imposed worse restrictions on her people than the Sassenach ever dreamed of.

I love the Isles, they're a nice place to visit, but I could never live in a place where you're prosecuted for murder for confronting a burglar, who then crashes through a 2nd-flood window and falls to his death.

Thanks to the folks who have sent emails to Graham near Birmingham, UK.

For a little bit of "Let's see how this goes", I'm going to call NRA in the near future
and see if the NRA will put up a link to http://www.britainneedsguns.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or somehow
raise the visibility of the UK no-guns nonsense.

Although the NRA's mission is to protect Americans' 2A rights, I believe that if
they make Graham's website available, it will be a teachable moment to just what
could happen to the US if the anti's ever got their way. Scary stuff for upright citizens.

I still encourage any and all forum members to email some encouragement to Graham.
