I really have no use, whatsoever, for those who think they are above the rules.
He shot 2 deer.
Im sure if he was a blue collar worker who had been laid off in this great economy and had taken the deer to feed his family, you'd be singing a different tune, but since he's a rich kid, he deserves to be hung....
My father-in-law (blue collar worker) "back in the day" shot a deer out of season (poaching) to feed his family, the law did what was expected, they took his gun, deer, and fined him. No difference! The rules apply to all. If we cannot abide by the rules, then we need not to have "licenses". When "we the people" don't like the rules, we need to go and change the rules or change those out of office TO change the rules.
My 2 cents worth.
Hooyah!

No indication he was charged with any CHL license law violation. Officer should probably not have noted his status in the media release, and simply report to DPS for administrative action.....

Well, maybe it was self-defense, or defense of a third party.
You know, when those dangerous feral urban deer are prowing the lawns of suburbia, stalking their prey, it's every man for himself . . . especially when they've gathered in a pack . . .

(No. Not really . . .
But I wonder if the defense he or his lawyer fabricate will be similarly ridiculous.)

Doubt this is at all similar, but when I was in San Antonio a CHL holder actually did shoot a deer that was foaming at the mouth and ramming its head (antlers and all) into the large plate glass windows of a daycare about a mile from my house.HankB wrote:Well, maybe it was self-defense, or defense of a third party.

Reguardless of what he drives or how much money he has, the Anti-gun dufus's will use this as an example of the class of people with CHL's and in general folks here in Texas. We need to hold our selves to a higher standard.

dumb...what more can you say
Re: Austin: CHL holder shooting deer in town out of season
Isn't it also illegal to shoot deer or hunt from a public road way?
This almost sounds like those people they catch who see a deer off the road and actually stop to shoot at it.

Things he can be charged with:
Deadly conduct
discharging a firearm within city limits
discharging a firearm from a public right of way
deer out of season
depending on time of day if headlights were needed to see, shooting with artificial light
trespassing if he got on private property to retrieve deer
Can lose:
hunting license for life
firearm and possibly vehicle
Will more than likely havet to pay a replacement fee to state for deer(2) and probably some more things they can hit him with that I can't remember. He is probably in a lot of trouble. Don't know how the chl license will play out.
