TCM (Turner Classic Movies) is running this series all day.
For those unfamiliar with the series, it's an indepth study of the events leading up to and during WWII. Made from 1942-1945, the 7 films range from 40 to 76 minutes in length. It won him an Oscar.

Actually the war was not quite as popular as it needed to be to generate enlistments - for every tale of a 15 year old kid who talked his way into the Army and flew 32 missions over Berlin as a waist gunner before anyone found out his true age, there is another of the guy who made it almost to the end of the war before the draft got him.
