Looks like guns will be allowed soon (though not soon enough) in checked baggage on Amtrak.

I looked, out of curiosity, one time at AmTrak fares. IIRC, I could just about afford to fly everywhere and buy a new gun upon landing for what the AmTrak tickets cost. But In so doing, I would miss the "romance of the rails", I reckon.

Alas, so many places, so little time...and money.

Yes, but due to a typo in the law, it requires passengers who carry firearms aboard Amtrak be locked in boxes for their journey.
