I kinda like her but the CHL requirements are not unreasonable now. I actually like the way the CHL rules/laws are now though. It seems taking the CHL away opens up the ability to carry to people who should not be allowed to AND opens up the debate for doing away with concealed carry-THAT SCARES ME.

Laws prohibit, they do not prevent. No law saying "Thou shalt not..." ever stopped anyone who decided to do so anyway.

Laws only restrict the law-abiding, not the criminal.

Oh, I get it. A tax ON Consumption, not on savings. Well actually, on Consumption, not on Savings or Income.
Always seemed to me that consumption taxes were the most broad-based taxes, and also the most structured and easiest to manage. They hit everybody (good in my book). Also, they keep the government out of your personal business -- value of home, income level, etc.

Finger in the trigger or not, I like that she has the gall to show everyone who she really is and I like what she has to say. I really hope she at least gets to debate the other candidates, as I'd like to hear more from her.

P.S.- IMO she could use a basic pistol safety course, but at least she is like minded and prepared.

Fine -- I suggest you strap a big honkin' pistol to your hip and walk thru any major downtown area in Texas. We'll see what happens. Illegal is Illegal regardless of the Constitution (unfortunately). I don't like it ether, but that's the way it is. If I had my way, NONE of what the current administration is attempting would succeed, because it's ALL unconstitutional. But it's been a while since that seemed to matter. I'd like to see RKBA opened up, too. But it currently is not. We have CHL and Castle and MPA, so things are improving. Hopefully it will continue to get better. But in the meantime...

The problem with increasing state sales taxes is that it encourages people to spend money over the internet and other states. I believe that that would be bad for Texas businesses. We already have one of the highest sales tax in the country.

She misses the point also. the solution isn't more taxes it's less spending.

The problem with increasing state sales taxes is that it encourages people to spend money over the internet and other states.

One of the issues with sales tax already is lack of enforcement: hang out near the front of Tractor Supply this time of year and watch the people obviously doing their Christmas shopping and using their "farm use" tax number. The same goes for all the "farm truck" plates in the bar parking lots. IMO, if this type of abuse could be stopped, revenue could be increased pretty dramatically without a significant increase in the tax rates.
