I always thought the phrase "the path to hell is paved with good intentions" was quirky and ironic but it seems it is also true.

note: youtube is also acting "quirky"

That sure looked like an interesting video, but it was playing in
fits and starts so I bailed after 60 seconds of video took 90 seconds
to play.

FYI, former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who served jail time for an affair
with his secretary, lying about it, and firing the LEO's who were on his
case about it, is now living in Southlake, Texas (Tarrant County).

Southlake is an affluent suburb near DFW airport and next to Grapevine.
So it looks like he got out of Detroit with a few bucks.

Wow. I knew things were bad there... It looks like Dresden and Chernobyl got together and Detroit was the result.

I guess that's why the Motor City Madman has a ranch outside Waco.

I had the same trouble watching it as SIA. it kept stopping to refresh and took forever. But something compelled me to sit through the waiting and watch it all.

I went away with mixed emotions. Wow, what a journalist that guy is! He should be a commentator on a major TV network news show. Kudos to him for an excellent report.

It was heartbreaking for me to see those beautiful old building fall into decay. Pieces of history that have been allowed to just dissolve.

But on the other hand, what goes around, comes around. At risk of irking some people, I can see why Detroit is a city of no hope. The auto capitol of the world quite simply priced themselves out of the market, building inferior quality cars. And they priced themselves out of the market largely in part, IMHO, because the were forced to go to their price structure because a car was so expensive to build in large part, due to the auto union obscene wages and benefits. Pure and simple. There, I've finally said what I've been wanting to say for 30 years.

The "Union" forced the auto makers into bankruptcy thereby starting the beginning of the end of prosperity in Detroit. Not to mention the democrat liberal mass entitlement programs.

Good grief, I've begun to rant. Sorry everybody, I was just beginning to get started but I'll quit. I could go on for hours since I'm fired up, but I won't. I'm not sure but I may be preaching to the choir.

Apologies in advance if I've offended some peoples' sensibilities.

No offence here, IMHO the blame should lay squarely at the feet of the unions.

I particularly like this scene from the video:

Image

Notice the classy "finger" fore casted against the American flag.

Apparently though, there are "more" than seeded and seedless watermelons. Whodathunkit.

Fun fact, if true (I don't know where to verify this claim) :

Detroit has the highest number of abandoned
buildings 10 stories or more, in the world.

Dont apologize for your opinion. If someones sensibilities are offended they can get over it. Everyone is way too sensitive today.

Joe,

I've been thinking about it and have come to the conclusion that you haven't offended me.
