The above video was received in an email to me from Graham Showell, who runs the
site http://www.britainneedsguns.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
His comment was
"This is disgusting, more proof that these "thugs in uniforms" don't appear to be on our side -
The video was taken 8/8/08 in England and involves 2 mothers who belong to "FIT Watch",
a group which monitors English police of the "Forward Intelligence Team" which surveils
English civilians.
The women are handcuffed, stepped on, choked, have pressure points applied to their necks,
and basically hogtied, while offering no resistance to the officers.
Not knowing much about FIT Watch's politics, you may be of varying opinions about the police
actions against these women. Shouldn't LEO's show their badge numbers while acting on behalf
of the government?
The women do not appear to be impeding the police officers' actions in any way, but are arrested for
asking questions and taking photos.
In the US LEO's generally have a responsibility to arrest a person with the least possible aggression.
The UK LEO's in this video appear to be administering corporal punishment to the women just because
they can. The handcuffs were already on, so why the need for the pressure points, choking, and the
leg restraints, then tossed into the paddy wagon like a heifer at the rodeo?
If this video was taken in the US, would your opinion be any different from Graham's (see above)?

No, it would not. But great Britain (small "g") is not so great any longer. No offense to any British ex-pats on this board, but my impression is that their former nation has been getting by on an increasingly tarnished heritage for a long time now while frittering away the traditions that made them a truly great nation in the past. And that is a real shame, by the way, because I am a bit of an anglophile at heart and it pains me to see it happening. That map I've seen online recently which shows the location of all the police surveillance cameras located around the former home of "1984" author George Orwell speaks eloquently to the degradation of British civil liberties.surprise_i'm_armed wrote:The women do not appear to impeding the police officers' actions in any way, but are arrested for

You can't own a firearm. If you kill someone in self-defense, that is murder... ...particularly if done with a firearm. If you FIND a firearm and try to turn it in to the police, you'll get FIVE years in prison. If you beat a knife wielding home invasion intruder with your cricket bat, you will go to jail. In all of its actions, the British government has loudly proclaimed that it would rather you be killed than defend yourself. They are scoundrels. The Brits have imposed on themselves a police state, and they have disarmed themselves so that they cannot do a thing about it. There will never again be a Great Britain made up of free men and women. It's too late for that.
Heck, you have to know that something is wrong when you can't even buy a pointed carving knife anymore (and you have to be over 18 now to buy the silly round-tipped things that pass for a carving knife there).
The only positive good that can come out of Britain's fall from the defense of liberty and common law is that it can serve as an object lesson to us here about what NOT to do.

Anyone who reads the headlines on Drudge sees plenty of links to UK news. I often read those links, then read the rest of the day's news on those sites (except for the Mirror, which is waaaaaay too tabloid). There is no end to the horrific daily violence there. There's not as much gun violence, but there's plenty (especially with the ratio of gun violence to legally owned guns, which is off the charts). The yobs don't hesitate to pile on and stomp someone into the hospital, or even to death.
The police response reminds me of why we took our kids out of the local public schools: the good kids were constantly getting suspended for the tiniest infractions, while the bad kids went unchecked in criminal and violent behavior. It was almost like the teachers were afraid of the bad kids selling drugs and having sex in school and they were frustrated by that, so they doubled down on good kids who might chew gum or be tardy.
