Existing Tickets

Post by jmdevera »

I am working on getting some traffic tickets out of the way, but I have a question.

Would those existing tickets hinder the CHL process?

What about a possible DL renewal denial?

Interesting question. I would have said that the tickets wouldn't stop the process, but without a valid Texas ID I think that would be a problem. Hopefully, one of the instructors will be able to give you some more concrete answers.

Depends on the status of the tickets.

Are we talking unpaid tickets that warrants were issued for? Or, tickets that you got and have not had a court date for yet.

The traffic tickets themselves are not something that will hinder your CHL. However, if they are unpaid and you were found in contempt of the court that's where your problem may be until you get them taken care of. I am not a lawyer.

I had a fellow at work with multiple unpaids, possible warrants, and he was concerned. Got his CHL without a hitch. Hope he ended up clearing them up, but he left the job shortly after.

Thanks for all the advice.

I cleaned up my "renewal" problem. I guess the city of houston just wanted their $30 processing fee. Now I have to hunt down my other traffic ticket.

Thanks again!
