Congratulations on the WW. I too, did a double take on the phone. At first I thought, what in the world is he doing showing that thing like that.

BTW, I noticed the date you received your plastic. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Don't get cocky. They're still going to card you when you try to buy beer. Just show them the CHL if they do, haha!

Funny Story behind that...

Actually have had a Store Clerk ask to see that, what he thought was another ID, too because when I took out my license there was my CHL in plain view underneath. I took it out handed it to the gentlemen and he looked at it for a second and said, " Oh, this other one will do just fine. " It was a pretty scary moment for me. I did'nt know if he was going to freak out on me or something. He then went on to say that he thought it was a good idea to have with all the desperate people out there. I was also a little reluctant to show it to him. Do i legally have to show someone that isnt an officer my CHL if asked?

No , only a LEO and only if asked for ID while carrying.

Thats exactly what I thought. So, next time what should I do.

1. Do I got along with the program and show him.

2. Do I tell him I'm not legally obligated to show him this CHL?

I just kind of froze and figured it would be better of showing him.

I normally carry my DL to the back of my ID card slot, CHL second, so I can produce one without the other easily or both. I usually do this by feel. I was renting a piece of power equipment and the guys aksed for my DL, I reach in and without looking hand it to him. He cocks his head like a puppy and says, "What's this?". I notice, snatch it back and said, "Not my Drivers License." I retrieve the correct document while smiling sheepishly...I think he was clueless.

I probably would have just told the guy that the DL you handed him IS your legal ID.

In your case since you're younger , you'll probably be asked for ID in certain situations.
I would say just hold your wallet in such a way that the clerk can't see that you have the CHL while getting out your DL.
Or place your CHL in another slot that is not visible.

Either way , its not a big deal . Some people don't mind others knowing they have a CHL and some people keep it a guarded secret. Personally I don't care one way or the other if someone sees my plastic.

I normally keep my CHL in front of my DL so that if I get pulled over it is the 1st thing the LEO sees but I swich them around on the rare occasion that I enter a bar since they tend to always ask questions and that is 1 of the few places I am unarmed and only due to obvious legal reasons. Any other place I don't care if they know about the CHL or not.
