Record for longest wait?

Post by samobius »

So, just to make myself feel better, who has had to wait longer than 5 months? I'll be in the 5 month club next week.

I know there's some people in the 6 month club, has anyone had to wait longer than that?

I don't see how some people are getting through in 16 days and you for instance are at five months. I mean once a background check is complete and they figure out your not a convicted felon or have had a class a or b misdemeanor in the past five years you should be issued a license. In my mind either you're eligible or your not and Texas after all is a shall issue state. I just wish I knew the ins and outs as to what DPS is actually doing during this time. Maybe Mr. Cotton you can shed some insight as to what is actually taking place behind the scenes.

I echo USA1's feelings. Call them! Find out what's going on. The turn around time for DPS to issue licenses is MUCH better than the spring or summer. Something must be going on.

And the process won't be speeded up until you start pushing a little. Anything in your history that could cause a delay? Changed residences several times, or changed jobs in the last 5 years or so? Have you ever lived out of State, and had something happen? Are they missing any paperwork?

Please feel free to discuss, if you feel comfortable in doing so. We are here to help. ;-)

I did call them ... "waiting on background check", was the response. I was born in Norway so that is most likely what is holding things up, but still ...

I'm so jealous of the people submitting apps and getting theirs in 4 weeks.

OMG OMG OMG ... I just decided to check the site today after like 2 weeks. I had all but given up. License Active!!! I ran (bad idea, my knees are recovering from pushing myself too hard during my last run) to the mailbox and there it was!!

It only took 5 and a half months.

The crazy thing is, they made me resubmit my pictures because they were "grainy", but they used the original pic, not the resubmitted one.

Who got their's in 16 days???

I thought I had the record??? 17 days, mailbox to mailbox...And that was for my first renewal...After that it started to go downhill, or uphill (slower) depending on howyou look at it...
