34 degrees right now in Cameron...first time above freezing in two days.

House pipes did fine but the faucet that is beside my garage froze up. Guess I'll know the extent of the damage soon. Tried to prevent this by wrapping the exposed pipe with insulating foam, then that insulating tape/foil, and then bound some towels to it with wire...still froze up.

Hope everyone has come through this in good shape. well

Just went outside and heard water gushing.

Turns out its the house across the street . It looks like a metal pipe for the sprinkler system broke.
They're not home and I have no way to turn off their water.
If they stay gone for long it will be a "winter wonderland " in their front yard.

I just got back from our deer lease near Rocksprings, went out for the weekend with a friend to get some venison. It was 12 degrees out when I left for the deer stand on saturday morning. We kept the stove burning the whole time, but we were still really cold.
Saturday evening my friend's 4wheeler conked out on her at the feeder she was hunting, and she walked 2 miles back to camp in the dark, in 30 degree weather-and then we both went back out there in my jeep to collect the doe she shot, and find the bolt for her rifle! (Which she dropped again on the way back to the cabin, and we had to find AGAIN this morning).

Texas is not supposed to get that cold....

Yeah we are too! 51F out there right now. Crazy. Today's the day of the thaw and people find out if their pipes burst or not. So far, mine haven't....knock on wood. ;-)

Some two weeks after this post began, I mowed and trimmed my ornamental weeds today in 72° sunshine. If you don't like the weather in Texas, hang around; it'll change in a day or so.

BTW, we missed the tornadic storms last night in this part of the Pineys. Is it time to charge the batteries in my Champion and change out some line on my Curados?

Oh that's just plum silly! A/C in January? Well, maybe winter weather has already come and gone, and that'll be the last of it. ;-)
