Charles/Moderators,

Can we make this a sticky so that others can find this easily prior to posting a question on the infamous SB-2099?

I second the motion. :tiphat: And add to the title HR-45, as the 2 go together.

It MAY help, but it will not eliminate the problem.

Most newbies find the site and look around a bit (not much) and figure out this is a great site for info.

Then they hear something about the above and without searching to find if anything has already been posted on the topic, they immediately post a message about it thinking that they are adding to the site. They do it in order to participate and they think it is something new.

Better than a sticky would be a automatically generated message that every newbie MUST read before he/she can make their first post. It would advise them about all this and also rules of the forum such as buy/sell, the 2007 poll on gun ownership that is still running, and everything else that we see almost Monthly.

Not to pile on (too much) but perhaps a little something re: we (as a majority of the group) reserve our right to self defence only in a case of stoping the threat of harm or death of our or our family's life etc. - as opposed to say, theft of (insert replaceable material item here)...

Something to stop the silly CHL badge/banner madness too would be nice. :banghead:

How about making people read the subject and they don't have to click on ones they don't want to read. :rolll

The problem, megs, is that one of two things can happen.

1.) The truly knowledgeable old-timers have seen the same questions about the SB-2099, CHL badges, etc, so many times that they may not choose to bother answering and the poster is left with responses from members who may not be as well informed.

2.) The answers may be so sarcastic or harsh that a newbie is disenfranchised or even run off.

There is nothing positive accomplished by the continued posting of questions that have already been covered ad nauseum.

However, my opinion must be in the minority as I once suggested creating stickies containing links to all of the truly productive discussions of the repetitive subjects and the moderators did not agree.
