Actually, shooting someone in the house, especially if the BG collapses inside, usually involves hiring professional cleaners who must document the cleaning before, during, and after - to the tune of about $2500.

Weigh that extra bit of cost before popping someone fleeing with your wallet.

I've always wondered about cleanup. Is there a legal reason why you can't just get some rubber gloves and a bucket of bleach and do it yourself?

I understand that a robber or burglar more likely than not has serious communicable diseases.

I don't believe that you have to hire someone to do it. I'm not up on all the laws regarding the matter, but it is definitely the property owner's responsibility to clean up.

I suppose it wouldn't be *so* bad to clean up a bg, but cleaning up family members seems out of the question - murders, suicides, unattended deaths (involves decomposition - the worst), etc... I've heard some horror stories. If you have any emotional ties to the trauma scene I don't think you'd want to be involved in cleaning it up; I'd think tending to your family after a shooting trumps all aside from the obvious legal issues.

Turnover in the industry is extremely high for obvious reasons. Word is that men and women without children handle it the worst, women who've had children handle it the best.

Professional cleaners have to keep records on file for 30 years after each job at a penalty of $40,000 if they ever fail to turn them over on request, or something like that.

Talk about thread drift..... but, maybe there's a insurance adjuster on the board that can answer the
following. After a break in (damage to doors/windows etc.), possible damage to property being dropped
or damaged by BG upon being shot or other reason, wouldn't the clean up be included in the original
insurance claim as it is all one occurrence?

I'm sure glad that breakfast was a long time ago and dinner is a long way off.

I can see not wanting to clean up after a decomposition event or suicide of a loved one, but a few blood spatters don't seem like a big deal.

Working with livestock, I have dealt with quantities of bodily fluids, the details of which I will spare you.
