GALVESTON — A man accused of shooting an acquaintance then turning the gun on himself has died, authorities said Wednesday.
Gregory Paul Lee, 48, of Visalia, Calif., died from small-caliber gunshot wound to head.
Lee was accused of shooting James Dillmon during a Monday incident at the corner of Sixth Street and Barracuda behind the University of Texas Medical Branch’s Primary Care Pavilion at 400 Harborside Drive, Galveston police said.
Lee and Dillmon, 50, of Galveston, were taken Monday to John Sealy Hospital. Dillmon was listed in critical condition Tuesday, but police said he was recovering from at least one gunshot wound to the abdomen. The hospital didn’t list Dillmon as a patient Wednesday afternoon.
The shooting stemmed from a disagreement about a loan, Galveston police Capt. Jeff Heyse said.
Lee sold Dillmon a pressure washer and trailer for about $500, and Lee was supposed to pay the money back in full, Heyse said.
Lee wanted the equipment returned without paying back the loan, but Dillmon refused, noting he was doing Lee a favor by offering an interest-free loan, Heyse said.
On Monday, Lee confronted Dillmon as he worked on his boat, Heyse said.
Police didn’t know why Lee was in Galveston. Lee listed a residence in Visalia, a town about 190 miles north of Los Angeles.

Glad to know your friend is doing OK. What is that saying about "a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged," or something like that? Seems like that's the principle here. Significantly, in my experience, whenever I've talked to an anti-gunner and asked them, "if you were being attacked, or saw someone you loved being attacked, and you had access to a gun to stop the attack, would you use it?" they have almost universally said that yes, they would. My answer, "so what's the problem?"elwood blooz wrote:I searched for the topic sorry if this is a repost.
