For my husband

Post by TxBlonde »

Just to give a word of advice make sure when you buy a house that there is no back taxes owed and make sure if you put money in escrow that the Tax office recieves it so they can get it cleared.

My husbands CHL has been put on hold because of back due property tax that has already been paid.

Go figure that is the Goverment for you.

Sent out packet 5-23-06
They recieved packet 5-26-06
They sent a request for more info (another address) 6-19-06
They recieved it back 07-01-06
Pin Number issued July 3rd
They reported to us that there is another hold on it 8-21-06
Found out it was Proerty tax when the lady called back 8-22-06.
She also told us that a letter was in the mail and we should get it in two or three days.

92 days and counting.........

8/31/2006 and no letter still. Humm I guess the lost the print button or something.

I have emailed about this and still no response.

Now it is

Just wondering, wouldn't the title company find this out before the close? I'd think a tax lien is very easily noticed. If not, what would protect the purchaser in this situation? (Any real estate people here ?)

Not really a realtor (broker or agent), but I believe what you're speaking of is called title insurance. It usually requires a title search & a notarized formal statement of "clean title" to be able to get (it doesn't prevent this from happening, just limits your liability if claims are made against the title).

Well figured it out. It is actually the escore people that thought they paid it and only paid the school Tax which is in another county around here. It is suppose to be fixed in the next couple of days. Cross our fingers.

Well 105 days and still counting.

Got ahold of the lady that has his file. She is resending the letter but confrimed it is the taxes we are talking about and gave me a fax number to fax any information I have to her.

The Escrow company is sending out the payment in two checks. One from our escrow account for the amount of property taxes and the other one from them for the amount of penelties and Interest.

Will be sent out tomorrow Through DHL over night to the tax office so they should get it the 7th.

Let's keep our fingers crossed
