10 year CHL?
Saw a big sign yesterday at the Mesquite Rodeo Gun Show advertising a 10 year CHL class for $225.00. Didn't get a chance to check it out. Anybody know anything about it?

Re: 10 year CHL?
Seems like a long time. Neither my initial class nor any of my renewals took more than one weekend.

Re: 10 year CHL?
What state?
Texas lets old school CHLers skip class alternate renewals, but there's no initial 10 year CHL in Texas.

If such an animal existed, it would certainly be on the DPS website, and it's not.

Re: 10 year CHL?
IF I remember correctly, when took my renewal last year, the instructor mentioned that your 3rd TX CHL renewal was good for 10 years. I have not verified that though, I've still got another renewal to go before I worry about that.

Six for sure.
Re: 10 year CHL?
Not exactly. You may skip the class, but must submit the application, photo, fingerprints.JLaw wrote:IF I remember correctly, when took my renewal last year, the instructor mentioned that your 3rd TX CHL renewal was good for 10 years. If the CHL were ever valid for more than 5 years, it would not qualify for the NICS exemption when buying a firearm.

Cougars are shy, reclusive, and downright mysterious...

Re: 10 year CHL?
Wow, that's bold. They're going to charge $225 for a class you're not required to take? (If you qualify for the 10 year CHL, you don't have to take a class, but you do have to renew.)jmra wrote:Saw a big sign yesterday at the Mesquite Rodeo Gun Show advertising a 10 year CHL class for $225.00.
