Rifle SN location

Post by DONT TREAD ON ME »

I am wondering if any of you could help me with a location of a SN on the following models?

Savage Model 24S (.22 Long/410 2 ¾” & 3”)
Savage Model 340 (30-30)

Last night I was putting all my gun info in a database on the comp and could not find the SNs on these two guns. I know both of these guns are older. I am almost positive the 24S is pre 1968 and the 340 may also be pre 1968. On the off chance that both of these guns are post 1968, can anyone point me to a place the SN may be hiding?

I don't know about the 30-30 as the s/n should be located somewhere on the receiver. If the 22 is old, it probably does not have a s/n.

The Krag rifle is the Swiss watch of MILSURPS.
