High capacity mags (> 20 rounds) - Which guns have them?

The other day in his "Jurisdiction" thread, ninemm mentioned
that he had a 33 round mag for his Glock.

Many semi-autos have capacity that are up to 20 +1 (the FN 5.7 being
the highest that I can recall), using mags that are of a concealable length.

My assumption is that if ninemm's Glock can take a 33 round mag, that
it would protrude so far that one could not conceal it. But it would be great
for the vehicle or the house in case of a multiple bad guy event.

Besides Glock, which pistols can be so fitted?

And AFAIK, only the Glock 9mm and .40 have those mags in 33 and 30 round capacities.

I've got a 20 Round Browning Hi Power 9mm, I've heard Rumor of a 30 but have never seen it in stock.
I believe Springfield XD has some 20-30 rounders
I saw some 15 .45 ACP Magazines, think they were for the HK45.

The only problem I see with them is, some people say they are more prone to failure. They are big, and they are hard to conceal.

Glock is the only pistol that I know of with factory mags of extended capacity. There are numerous aftermarket mags for a lot of different guns but they are mostly junk.

If you haven't used an extended capacity mag you will be surprised just how heavy and unwieldy they are.

Almost all will be aftermarket. Sportsmans Guide has 30rd mags for CZ75/85, Ruger P85/89, Beretta 92, and S&W 5900/915/459.

Mec-Gar offers a 20rd for the Hi-Power and Sig P226.

I personally think there is no better mag on the market. It's all I buy for my 1911's and mostly what I buy for my Hi-Powers.

I included the Mec-Gar 20's because I would trust them.

Mec-Gar is the only aftermarket brand of mags that I'll buy. Many manufacturers use Mec-Gar mags instead of making their own--Sig is one, and I think Beretta is too.

As to the high-capacity mags for Glocks (I know "high-capacity" is usually frowned on as an anti-gun term but in this case I think it is the proper term)--I believe Glock only makes them for their 9mm guns. They were originally made for the Glock 18 (full-auto 9mm), but will work in any 9mm Glock. I have a few; they are a lot of fun when you have too much ammo at the range but not practical for carry (they are about a foot long). I just keep them on hand in case of zombie apocalypse.

Didn't Beretta also make a high cap mag for a full-auto version of their 90-series 9mm pistols back in the 80s? Seems that both Glock and Beretta (and maybe H&K?) all made high-cap mags to go along with full-auto pistols for some sort of military contract bid or something? I'm thinking the Beretta was a 20-rounder? Been having trouble finding web references.

Beretta made the 93R, capable of 3-round burst, with a 20-round magazine.

HK made the VP70 in a 3-round burst configuration, too. Its capacity was 18+1, which practically sounds routine today, but I imagine not when it was introduced in 1970.

Both the Beretta 93R (1977) and the HK VP70 (1970) significantly predate the Glock 18 (can't find an exact year of introduction but the G17 was introduced in 1982 and the G19 in '84).

mostly. That's why I specified "> 20 rounds" in my subject title, so everyone
here would have a definite reference point.

AFAIK it's Kalifornia and Massachusetts which frown on "high capacity" mags, that
being defined as anything greater than 10. It's a shame that gun makers have to
kowtow to these states and make specific models which are < or = 10 rounds.

Which is kind of crazy when you think about it. If some BG wanted to rock and roll
with his gun in a bad way, all it takes is multiple 10 round mags loaded up and ready
to go. To switch out mags takes no time to speak of.

not to mention, that with millions of regular capacity mags in circulation the ban on >10rnd capacity was a waste time and money (like most bans).
