Glad this isn't Canada
Not sure this is the right place to post this, but it is politics....
Don't pay the fee, they come to the door and get your gun.

This such a perfect and blood-chilling example of why the rights of "those wackos with AR-15s and handguns" can't be separated from "us good sporting/hunting folks". Sure, they'll grab the ARs first, then the handguns, but sooner or later, they'll want your 40-year-old single-shot 20 gauge shotgun too.Toronto Star columnist Joe Fiorito wrote: Let me be clear: I am not one of those "pry it out of my cold, dead hands" guys. No one in the city but a copper ought to have a handgun. And so on.
But I am a fellow who grew up in Northern Ontario and who was once the scourge of the clay pigeon, feared among the partridges.

As for the Canada Story, Welcome to Kanada. Land of High Taxes and Canadians who cant/wont see the truth.
As for the Second Story
Let them try, it will cost them Congress, the Senate and the White House.

Re: Glad this isn't Canada
There are times I wish we were more like Canada. Specifically, like the prairie provinces that stood up to Ottawa and told them to stuff their national gun registry, they would not comply. And they didn't, and the national government folded.
Some states are starting to get bold with "Firearms Freedom Acts" and medical marijuana, but so far none have been bold enough to actually stand up to federal agents and order them out of the state.

Canada is the major reason that that we don't tow our modest little 25' Travel Trailer to Alaska. I don't want to travel that far (across Canada) unarmed and I don't want to spend a farthing where my presence and my company is not appreciated.
Did I mention that there was no COLA with our SS payments this year? That is the other reason
were not RV'n to Alaska this summer.

Don't be too critical of Canada. You hear similar things in Texas.Toronto Star columnist Joe Fiorito wrote: Let me be clear: I am not one of those "pry it out of my cold, dead hands" guys. No one in the city but a copper ought to have a handgun. And so on.

I'm not getting those, either.
I love telling someone "there's no reason to walk around with a gun" "There's also no reason for you to own that V8 sportscar, you are obviously going to only break the law with it, the police should impound it, and you should be forced to take the train.
at least my guns are mentioned in the bill of rights, your V8 Isn't...

My favorite section:
For the time being it will be fun to watch.
Speaks wonders about a politician when their objective is to trample on the Bill of Rights. I don't see a feasible plan for forcing gun owners to register firearms, I'd say 80% of gun owners wouldn't comply when the form came in the mail (or whatever method employed).2A won’t stand in our way

The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere. -Thomas Jefferson

Heck - I'm glad we aren't in Illinois...

Re: Glad this isn't Canada
More than 90 million gun owners haven’t hurt anybody, and they are tired of being treated like criminals.”

And we VOTE! If every gun owner is a registered voter, or voice is impossible to silence. Were suppose to be a representative republic, but too many of this politicians just go with doing what they want once there elected, instead of what they are voted in to do.
Everyone on here had better be a voter.
Re: Glad this isn't Canada
My dad is to the point that I won't let him drive anymore but over the weekend I asked him if he was registered to vote and he said yes. I told him that when it came time I would take him to vote because we had to get some of these guys out of office and every vote counted.

You are much more optimistic than I. I often wonder if even 20% of gun owners would hold out. I hope you are the one who is right. I expect a better percentage in Texas, but overall, people can be sheep.
