I actually am a self-employed service technician of sorts, entering into people's homes on a daily basis to provide them a service. I always carry into their homes. I've never encountered a home posted 30.06 and I've never been asked if I have a weapon. 100% of my clients are completely oblivious or unaware of my CCW. Like previously said, concealed is concealed.

The only people I discuss it with are my close friends who have a CHL and we only discuss because its a topic of interest for us. I never tell anyone I have a pistol on my person for several reasons, I am legal to carry, its none of their business, and I dont want their opinion.

When first getting our CHL's, the wife and I where very excited.
We told A LOT of people that we shouldn't have.

Last week we went to a dinner party at one of her coworkers.
He brought up the CHL thing as nothing but something to talk about that was interesting.
I avoided the conversation and ended it pretty quick.

Up to that point, I had been playing with their 20 month old daughter. Feeding her dinner and then taking her out of her chair and playing with her on my lap.

I bet you a dollar he did not even consider the fact that I could have been carrying! (CHL was in "processing application" at that point).

If I had been carrying, I would have never said a word.

If they dont know, they wont freak out.

If I am going to announce to a homeowner that I am carrying, then I should also announce to every business I walk into as well. I don't really see the difference.

For me personally I would not carry into someones home that I know they wouldn't want me to (even if they didn't post or verbally ask me not to). I know it would be perfectly legal for me to do so, for me its not a matter of what is legal in that situation, more a matter of respect.

All that being said, I don't personally know anyone that would have a problem with it. (Still not going to announce it anyone though)

Careful, there's a state or two that require you to announce that you're carrying and present your license when you are in the immediate presence of a LEO.

I don't think anyone follows that literally, for obvious reasons: can you imagine stopping by the coffee shop, seeing a cop in the next line, and marching over, card in hand, to announce that you have a gun?

Arkansas REQUIRES you to notify the homeowner prior to entering. There may be other states that have this requirement also. Luckily, Texas does not.

Haven't traveled out of state with me license yet (only had it for two days at this point), but I will definitely be checking for all applicable laws in any state I might travel though.

However my research of other states laws where I might find myself traveling to seems to find statutes that are as open to debate and interpretation as 30.06 is for Texas.

It does seem unlikely that merely being in the presence of a LEO would require them to announce. I would be curious to see if there was a definition of "presence".

Louisiana does also. I haven't heard of any other states. Isn't it our luck to be bordered by two states with this strange law?
