So um, if I handle firearms and bullets alot (which I do) am I going to get strip searched?

I wonder the same thing. Will GSR be detected as an explosive substance. Guess we better not go to the shooting range on the way to the airport. I saw a clip on Fox and they showed a guy with rubber gloves. I thought the new process included a body cavity search. Was relieved when I saw it was just a hand swab.marksiwel wrote:http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100217/ap_ ... t_security

Will the CHL card be a real "get-out-of-jail-free card" in this case? (Sort-of seriously.)

Re: Hand-swabbing a bigger part of security
We used to swab hands when I first started at TSA, but only if other triggers existed.
I have mentioned having my recently fired 1911 swabbed in San Antonio. Firearms are NOT supposed to be swabbed, guess why, but mine was, and the ETD did NOT alarm.

"Another great example in the security theater you are performing in order to justify your outrageous budget. The puffers failed so now you are trying the next trick to get us to comply with giving up our civil rights.
I wonder how many news stories there will be about the Glycerin from soaps and hand cremes that trigger your alerts and create issues for the poor victim of your false positive."
I couldnt agree more
Not to mention when did flying = giving away your rights? If they can do this to you when you fly whats to stop them from putting a breathalyzer in your car and every car on the road?

I've had a few of my carry-on bags swabbed before, I politely tell the TSA screener that firearms have been in there *in the past* and that it would be highly possibly for them to detect it. So far, no problems/attitudes.
Re: Hand-swabbing a bigger part of security
Im sorry i work with TSA at my job regularly. they are the biggest joke to us. i have been watching them randomly screen passengers as they board their specific flights for a while now. they pull them aside make them open their luggage, pull their belongings out and swab them. i have wondered where these random searches can be legal and how they don't violate the 4th amendment but that's just me. I have even been sitting in the terminal and had a actual customs agent (an actual LEO) come up to me and stick some kind of device in my face and ask if i had just recently had a stress test. i told him every day at my job is a stress test and laughed and he just walked off. anyways if everyone in this country new just how big a joke TSA is then they would be outraged. I do propose however having bomb sniffing dogs check people as they go through screening. if they hit at least then the government would actually have probable cause to search.

The secert is that it does violate your 4th Amendment, but somehow flying (Aka Traveling) isnt covered by Bill of Rights anymore. If you complain about being layed over for 7 hours you get taken off the plane in handcuffs. The messed up thing is the TSA and the Plane Crews KNOW this and will abuse it.Bennies wrote:Im sorry i work with TSA at my job regularly. they are the biggest joke to us. i have been watching them randomly screen passengers as they board their specific flights for a while now. they pull them aside make them open their luggage, pull their belongings out and swab them. i have wondered where these random searches can be legal and how they don't violate the 4th amendment but that's just me. Your flight attendant went from whipping peanuts to enforcing "Laws" (FDA Regulations are not LAW btw) but to question it is to be banished.

If you want to see what this country would look like without a constitution just go to the airport.

Re: Hand-swabbing a bigger part of security
my guess is that the defense will be that airlines have required these checks
you dont have to submit to them if you dont want to fly...

My favorite part is it says "No Joking" that right there says it all.Bennies wrote:If you want to see what this country would look like without a constitution just go to the airport.
Cant make jokes, cant protect yourself, and in some cases you get in trouble if you're too fat.
