Guys,
Today, yet an another example of an airplane crime. When is congress gonna' get off their chairs and impose a ban on airplanes in federal buildings and public schools? This would've never happened if there was a picture of an airplane in a circle with a line drawn through it.

I'm pretty sure I heard Sheila Jackson Lee say "There must be something we can do to stop these airplanes from taking off with a full load of fuel."
Duh!

I'm just happy that so far, the only confirmed death is that of the pilot, although numerous people are injured and hospitalized.
I'm no fan of the IRS but attacking government bureaucrats is not the way to effect change. I think he had just lost hope of his financial situation with the IRS, and was determined to take as many IRS employees with him as he could by committing suicide.

A good friend of mine works in that building. For the IRS. Luckily he and his coworkers survived this nutjob.
Did you read his screed? It looks to me like a guy who made a LOT of bad decisions (tried to defraud through tax-exempt status, hired a bad CPA who 'forgot' to report income, etc.) and then blamed all his problems on the IRS and congress. Painted himself/got himself painted into a corner and lashed out in desperation. Sure, there's no love lost between the IRS and me, but this is just WAY not right. I'm just glad that he's the only fatality reported so far.
And yes, I think we need tighter regulations on airplanes. Like a waiting period before you can fly, fuel tanks with limited capacity, and "safety" features that make them less 'lethal' looking.

She originally said the plane's store of "jet fuel" did the damage.Mike1951 wrote:I'm pretty sure I heard Sheila Jackson Lee say "There must be something we can do to stop these airplanes from taking off with a full load of fuel."
Duh!
Single-engine Pipers don't typically carry a whole lot of jet fuel. But SJL was impervious to that nuance.
How does this woman manage to appear in every news story? How?
That's an undeniable skill. Ya gotta admit.
Of all the U.S. Representatives from Texas, Sheila Jackson Lee is the one who flat-out embarrasses me.
I am embarrassed she represents Texas.
I'm not in her District and can't help vote her out, but I hope her constituents will do the right thing and get rid of "Hollywood Lee" once and for all.

If I had a gun for every ace I have drawn, I could arm a town the size of Abilene.
