Is it worth it to get a CHL for Nevada for a Texas tourist?

Post by drjoker »

I'm thinking about visiting Las Vegas and getting a Nevada CHL. However, it won't be worth it if all the hotels, casinos, shows, and restaurants have "no gun" signs posted. Yes, I know, you'll have to get a non-resident permit and register your gun with the police. That's a hassle and we all know the potential evils/dangers of gun registration. So, are most tourist venues posted or are they not posted? Thanks. :tiphat:

P.S. Yes, I know that this is a TEXAS chl forum, but I've googled till my face is blue but couldn't find a Nevada forum. Being that this question is about a touristy place many Texans have visited, I thought I'd ask my fellow Texans. Thanks.

That's a hint right there.
When in doubt

I googled some more and this is what I think is the situation for us Texans in Nevada;

1. You have to go to Nevada and do a one day class to get a Nevada CCW license.
2. As a non-resident you don't have to register your weapon with Las Vegas PD.

CCW class: http://www.armedandsafe.com/default.html

No need to register weapon: http://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRs/NRS-244. ... S244Sec364

If you enjoy going to vegas a lot for fun, it might be worth it to get your nevada ccw license.

Guys and girls, please correct me if I'm wrong and please add to my post if you have additional helpful information. AFAIK. IANAL.

P.S. After some further googling, I've determined that as of March 21, 2008, the following Nevada casinos are posted "no guns";
Arizona Charlie's
Harrah's
Stratosphere
New York
Red Rock
Green Valley Ranch
Binion's
Main Street Station

The following are NOT posted;
Bellagio
Wynn
Treasure Island
Caesar
Venetian
Sun Coast

The following shows have wanded weapons checks;
Mandalay
Hard Rock

The following shows do NOT have wanded weapons checks;
Paris
