Pure Kustom Holster Review

I want to preface my review by saying that this is my first gun and holster combonation. So I can't really compare this holster to previous one that I've had, because this is the only holster I have. Having said that though, I want to give my unprofessional review and show you some pictures and let you decide for yourselves.

This holster is from Pure Kustom Holsters based in Arizona. The gentleman's name is Rocky. First and formost, I want to commend Rocky on his customer service. Top notch customer service. One of the many times I called, he didn't answer immediatly. He called me back around 8 o'clock at night to talk about my holster. Very customer oriented.

I wanted to buy a holster that I could wear forever. Something that I would be able to pass on to my kids if I wanted too. I would say that this holster has that type of durability. Even if it doesn't last that long, Rocky said he stands behind his work 100%. We also discussed the process that he uses to treat and seal the leather. He told me the treatment process he used allowed the holster to basically become waterproof. All you would need to do was let the holster dry out and it would be just like it was before it got wet. I didn't find any others claiming this. Not saying that others don't, but I found this to be unique. I don't plan on swimming with it on, but it's good to know it can get wet without suffering damage. The tooling for the fit of the gun is also top notch. It slides in the holster effortlessly and, for lack of a better word, "locks" into place. The tooling is so excat that it fits the gun like a glove. Absolutley NO slope here, ZERO! The fit is perfect down to the safety. The groove in the "sweat sheild" almost acts as another safety to prevent the safety from moving, if that makes sense. The quality of the leather, stitching, hardware, and tooling fit are, in my opinion, top notch.

The style of holster is called the "Black Ops Pro." This is a 27 position adjustable IWB and 1 position OWB holster that is tuckable. I thought I would wear the holster OWB more than IWB, but boy was I wrong. With all the possible adjustments on positions IWB, you can target that excat position that is most comfortable for you. It took me about a two months or so of moving the straps around to figure out just where I liked it. OWB is comfortable also, but I feel I get better concealment IWB, so this is my preffered and usual method of carry. The holster is light brown in color and came with matching straps for the IWB carry style. I ordered additional black straps for concealment when wearing a black belt. I found that very few companies offered a holster so diverse. It had every style of carry that I wanted and was tuckable. The overall design was a major deciding factor for me.

I had Rocky tool some art work on the holster. After all, it is Pure Kustom Holsters, so why not do something original? Again, I have not seen in person other tooled holsters, but as far as free hand tooling goes, I thought this was high quality stuff. He claims that he can tool anything he can see, and looking at the pictures of some of his custom work, I believe it. Truley did an outstanding job on the tooling in my opinion.

When I first got my holster, it came with a set of instructions that I rapidly bypassed to get to the goodies. I just couldn't wait to get my gun in that holster and try it on. Well, like a dummy, I stuck the gun in the loaded holster and it was stuck. The holster came so tight that I pretty much had to break it in. So I feel too that this will add to how long the holster last and stays tight. It didn't come lose or even fitting, the holster had to be broken in. If I would have read the instructions, I would have seen that, but hey, I was excited, it was my first real holster.

One last thing I feel is worth mentioning is that after I had the holster about two to three weeks, I was out washing the car on a Sunday afternoon and my wife brings me the phone. It's Rocky wanting to know if I liked the holster, how it was wearing, what I thought about the artwork, and if anything was wrong with it. To me, this is HIGHLY impressive. How many times do you get a call back from the owner asking how things are with the product? This tells me that he believes in his product 100%. Like he said, he believes that when you buy his holster, your getting one of the best products around. I would have to agree. I will defintley order my next holster from him and recommend him to anyone else.
