CMMG Bargain Bin AR Reviews?

Post by UpTheIrons »

I've seen a few comments on the CMMG Bargain Bin ARs on the forum, and they look like a pretty good deal to me. To those of you who have one, how would you rate your rifle? I'm thinking of getting one as a "learner" rifle, with an eye towards building my own in the future. In your experience, do these guns shoot well enough to keep around? Or is it 'just' a good platform from which to build an 'improved' version?

I'm new to EBRs and I'm going into this with my eyes wide open to the fact that building and shooting the AR platform can develop into a rabid disease that runs unfettered in most owners. Sure, I could go all out and get a Tier One rifle, but if the CMMG gets me in the door, it could save me money in the long run, right?

I bought one last year before prices went nuts.
I was pleasantly surprised - it was a nice gun, unfired, no blemishes I could find, on a DPMS lower.
Well worth the $630 it cost me including shipping and FFL.
I'd still have it, but I was offered a EMP for it, straight trade :woohoo

Depends on your use I think. Since I will use my rifle for work, I went with top quality, regardless of price. For a first rifle - heck yes get the best value you can find. If you're not competing with it, or counting on it to save lives on a regular basis then I think most AR's out there will be FUN to shoot - and that is what most people are really wanting anyway. For your first AR you will have a blast whether or not it holds 1/2 MOA at 10 Million yards. Good Luck with it.

I bought one, paid for the hand select option. I know they are supposedly blemished and mix and match, but mine was all CMMG and mint. Great gun for the money.
