Crimped primer headstamps

Re: Crimped primer headstamps
Any 5.56 case with the NATO cross should have a crimped primed regardless of who made the ammo. Winchester Q3131 has a crimped primer as do others. The only negative thing about crimped primers is there is an extra step (removing the crimp) in reloading them the first time. If you only have a few cases it isn't too bad with a reamer with a large lot it can be tedious.

If you have a lot of military cases, Dillon makes a tool for you:

An economical alternative to the Dillon tool is made by CH4D for less than $30 you can adapt any single station or turret press to swage primer pockets. http://www.ch4d.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Go to the website and click priming tools it's the next to last item in that menu.

No I don't have the swage years ago I would have given my eye teeth for one but, my source of military surplus ammo and brass has dried up. I just ream what little crimped primers I run across. It is my understanding you can order just the swage.mikejarhead wrote:Mojo do you have this swage?MoJo wrote:An economical alternative to the Dillon tool is made by CH4D for less than $30 you can adapt any single station or turret press to swage primer pockets. http://www.ch4d.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Go to the website and click priming tools it's the next to last item in that menu.
