funny gun conversations

Post by dewayneward »

I started a new job recently and they have no issues with carry so I am carrying there all the time. Anyway, I have 4 other co-workers (females) and they are talking about this and that. I am currently staying away from most of their conversations, just interjecting a harmless funny comment to lighten the mood.

Today, my boss is talking about living in the country and that they can shoot animals if they are harming her livestock. My other co-worker, from California, is shocked to hear this. Then, my boss comments that you can shoot someone on your property. I am not getting into the conversation because I dont want questions to start coming at me if I start making some statements that sound correct (they'll ask me how and why I know this). The co-worker is even more shocked by that comment and says that she cant believe that people are allowed to legally shoot other people.

I laughed and made a comment that it is Texas and everyone has a gun here. She got this serious look on her face and said "do you know what I saw the other day? I was driving and saw this sign that was talking about CONCEALED HANDGUN LICENSES!!!!!" Isn't that the craziest thing. I would freak out if I ever got around a gun.

I smiled as she was standing about 3 feet away from my Hi-point 9mm CONCEALED in my IWB holster at 8 o'clock. I have learned a lesson that for the most part, keep your mouth shut about those things until a time comes when it makes sense. From talking with the person, that time will never come :-)

Just thought I would share.

I work with a Canadian who just moved here, she asked me what I like to do with my free time
"Read, Video games, Gun Range, cooking, you know stuff"
She then freaked about the gun range, and when I mentioned that you could legally carry a pistol in your car, she about dropped her jaw.
She has since learned from my big mouth co-workers that I have a CHL and am a very avid gun enthusiast.

Very good lesson. Very few people know that I have a CHL and am carrying. :txflag:

I do. Especially if it's a really cool one.

Good story...I've met people like this. They are not aware of CHL or what it's all about.
My brother in law brought his girlfriend to a family function and saw me taking a gun out of my pocket to show him.
She said.." You mean you just carry that thing around with you??!!" I said of coarse I do.

Then we got into the whole "so..does that thing make you feel safe(sarcastically)" conversation.
A little while later I detected a slight smile as she handling it.

That's funny :)

I had a one of my girlfriend's friends tell me "I just don't believe in guns"

To which I replied..."What, like they don't exist or something?" and gave her a look like this

ha ha, those are some funny stories. I am currently having conversations with a lady on facebook that is very anti gun. I am trying to slowly educate her on guns. It has been a very interesting conversation. After I told her that I have a CHL and carry 24/7, she told me that I better be careful because her cousin got arrested for carrying at a walmart. I laughed and said that he is obviously not legal AND did a very bad job of concealing.

I'd like to get a thread started of just some outlandish conversations with people about guns. I am amazed at how often the topic comes up (and I swear I dont start them :-)

When I lived in Plano I had a French family who lived next
to me from 1998-2004. Then they moved back to France.

After 12/4/08 when I got my plastic I mentioned it in an
email, and that I was now carrying.

The wife wrote me back and said that wasn't a very good
idea because usually the bad guy just takes your gun away
from you.

Obviously she hasn't embraced the 2A lifestyle or spent very
much time on this board. :-)

I'm not sure, but its sure popular. It makes me want to get one of those plastic training guns and have a little training session with the next person that tells me that. As in, OK, show me how you can take my gun away from me...

Someone was telling me about how you can open carry with a CHL these days, because "you know how those Texans love their guns". :confused5

He wouldn't listen when i tried to tell him otherwise, and insisted that he was going to get his CHL so he can carry on his hip. I figured that if he ever takes the course they'll fill him in on the minute details, and let him go on his merry way.

A co-worker and I went to out to lunch one day-I drove. She noticed the MOLON LABE sticker on my car and wanted to know if it was a sorority....I said 'kinda like that, yeah."
