I'm a reloader!

Post by The Annoyed Man »

I present for your inspection...

...my first ever handload. A .308 Winchester cartridge consisting of a 168 grain Sierra Match King on 42.0 grains of Varget, using unfired Remington brass and a Winchester Large Rifle primer:

I loaded up 10 rounds of it, and I'm going to go test fire them tomorrow in my Remington 700 VSF.

Maybe I'm a geek, but honestly, this is one of the coolest things I've ever done. Many thanks to our member HighVelocity for his help in setting everything up and teaching me how to do it.

Congratulations - looks good!
I just picked up the post for my Hornady this evening. I'll get it painted and mounted this weekend and then I'll almost be out of excuses.

W/o going to look, by memory, I think mine is 42.5 Varget under a 168 gr. That is a good load & a good looking bullet.

I really can't make that determination about you. I'm a geek and I always had a lot of fun reloading, but I never posted a picture of my first reload on the internet. Of course, we didn't have the internet back then.

For a long time, I even cast my own bullets! Turning wheel weights and other scrap lead into bullets was very satisfying.
