Post by UTgrad05 »

I just started grad school in La and don't plan to permanently reside there after i graduate bc ill hopefully be headed to OT school somewhere afterwards. My question is what do i need to do as far as changing my address address for my CHL and driver license? I was thinking just use my parents address..?? any advice would be much appreciated

When you say LA are you using an abbreviation for Louisiana or Los Angeles? That make a difference in the advice we give.

Always need the clarification. In general LA is used for Los Angeles & La for Louisana. I suspect he is talking about Louisana & driving across a border where we have reciprocity.

Right, I read it as Louisiana because noth letters weren't capitalized but the first responder took it as LA.

I was very intentional in using a capitalized "L" and a lowercase "a" which is the abbreviation for Louisiana and not L.A. When put side by side, they are obviously different ( La vs L.A. ) Besides, L.A. is the last place id plan to move to, let alone Ca with their gun regulations, the fact they're like 13 billion in the hole which we all know will lead to even higher taxes.

I'm currently residing in La ( Louisiana) while i complete a masters... Basically asking if I just need to change my CHL and TxDL to my parents address** so both licenses addresses match and are therefore valid. I don't plan to permanently move to Louisiana ever, especially since ill be planning to move again for more academics pursuit after i'm done with my masters . I eventually do plan to come back to Tx(Texas) to work after its all said and done.

** my parents live in Tx(Texas)

thank you for the help

I thought YouTee would teach graduates that abbreviations end with periods.

I was given an Assistantship position which meant education is paid for and also receive a stipend every month while i'm completing my masters. Don't worry, I have every intention of coming home once all the schooling is completed.

So....any answers to my question?

Since you are in school, I'd suggest using your parents' address, with their permission, of course.
