WEEDS!!!

Post by Carry-a-Kimber »

What a beautiful day here in Downtown Houston Texas! Just got done with the yard work (didn't take but an hour to do everything on my huge 50x100 inner city lot ;-) ). Anywho, is it just me or are there WAY more weeds this spring than usual? Granted, I have only been a homeowner for 2 years now, but I have been doing yardwork since I was 14 or so. I litteraly had a full bag of weeds I pulled from the ground before I even began to mow. Just curious as to how everyone else's lawns faired this winter. :tiphat:

Just got done with my lawn and I agree. Many more weeds than usual. Now it's time to get some "weed n feed".

I've got this one that looks like a collard green out near the street that popped up over night.
I'll be getting a letter from the HOA if I don't go pull it up soon. :grumble

Bumper crop if those really were collard greens I'd be eating large. I had my front in good shape last year but looks like I need to hit mine hard this week.

I had a bunch of those "collard greens" at the edge of the flower beds myself but now have a definate line between the lawn and the beds. Now just to bring them back to their former glory.

The clover is going crazy here on the dead lawns. At least it is adding a nice green color but I bet it is a pain to remove all of it. One upside to not being a home owner yet.

It sure was a nice day today though. My wife and I hit a few different parks and did some biking.

Houston is far enough south of Plano that Spring weeds popup there first. They will reach Plano
in a couple of weeks. And then my dearly beloved will be on my case. Fortunately, I already have
one bag of weed killer and one bag of Scotts Bonus S in the garage. I am prepared.

More weeds than usual in both my front and back yards this year. I've got my work cut out for me. It's going to take two $20 bills out of my wallet instead of one to convince my neighbor's kid he needs the money!

If they're already popping up you're way behind the curve. I like the pre emergent treatment but the weed and feed has a tough row to hoe if they already took root.

Yea, I usually put out amaze before they take root. Unfortunatly, I was out of the country for 2 weeks and thats when they desided it was warm enough to sprout. I went through the entire yard pulling and digging them out with a retired hunting knife. Now to wait for some rain to throw ou the weed-n-feed.

I did treat my lawn with pre-emergent. I got weeds anyway.
