TN: "Get offa my lawn"

Post by seamusTX »

An 87-year-old man was arrested after reportedly shooting at children who were playing ball in front of the house where he lived in Memphis. No one was injured.

Boy do I know the feeling. We are on a dead in road that used to go back into a wooded area and where there is a large drainage ditch. Kids would come down the road doing 80mph or faster on their 4 wheeler, dirt bikes etc. Only pavement was where our house is the rest going down to the horse pasture coral gate was rock/limestone and when they hit that rocky area the pieces would go every where. I wanted to get a paint ball gun and start shooting at some dirt bikes and ATV's when they came down the road. Hubs talked me out of it. But I sure wanted to put some paint on them things to mark em some and maybe they would go down another road that was actually city owned (I have to keep my own road repaired) to get to the drainage ditch area and pop their wheelies and jump ditches etc. I called the city and they actually came out and put up a dead end street sign. Lotta good that did. I kept calling and they finally put up a baracade/gate type thing across the road right after the horse pasture coral gate. WAs told that city vehicles had to have access to that area as well as pipe line people. The next time I called they put up a cable line going from one side of the road to the other just past my house where the pavement ended and the limestone layer began. Funny thing is: when it is time to re-asphalt the area directly in front of my house and property it is MY road. But I was not allowed to keep up a sign that said private road. After being here neigh on 12 years the unwanted traffic has stopped. But I was going to start shooting myself, only using a paint ball gun not a .45. I do know how the old fella feels. :fire

Your kids are not my responsibility!

Teach 'em to respect other people and other people's property and make 'em play or do whatever in their own yard, DAGNABIT!

I don't think your kids are cute or precious!

While I would never condone shooting a gun indiscriminately at anyone, the parents of the children should have not allowed their kids to taunt the man. The article states the kids would throw rocks at his windows.

I agree. The parents are irresponsible jerks, and the kids turn out the way you would expect.

This kind of thing goes on all the time, and every few years one of the beleaguered homeowners blows his top.

I've been considering one of these:

Just kidding.

But I do hate seeing the neighbor kids on my lawn. More for liability reasons.
