Re: Our Elected Leaders
Whoever voted this guy into office has to be wondering if they did the right thing....
Even before the "tipping over" part, the rest of the question was painful to listen to.
I have to agree Xtreme, I lost a few brain cells on this one...

Re: Our Elected Leaders
Apparently, he is fairly ill, but I don't what with, and he has been making other wacky statements too. I actually feel bad for him if he is that sick, but if illness is incapacitating him intellectually, then the responsible thing is to step down. It is amazing to me that his party isn't taking that track with him.

Re: Our Elected Leaders
I think I saw a comment when I looked at it earlier today saying he had Hepatitis C or something, along with the resulting brain damage. I couldn't find it in the first 6 pages just now though.
If that's the case, then we really shouldn't be making fun of the results of his misfortune. However, there comes a point where he should realize that he's no longer capable of performing the job he was elected to do.

Remember when former US Senator Ted Stevens,
he of the "Incredible Hulk" necktie, described the
Internet as a series of pipes?
Metaphorically, he's about right.
But when the 'net needs fixing you don't call a plumber,
you call Geek Squad's top echelon.

Re: Our Elected Leaders
Exactly what I was thinking. Seemed like he had little info on what he was talking about Poor fella. I am wondering if he belongs to the Liberate the Gnomes Society. (Maybe the Traveling Travelocity Gnome doesn't want to be liberated.) Bet everyone in that room had a hard time keeping a straight face after the Island will tip over and capsize statement. Can I apply for whatever office this guy holds?XtremeDuty.45 wrote:...was this guy stoned?

Re: Our Elected Leaders
When my cousin was Governor of Maine, 1975 to 1979, he started acting funny during his term. He was roundly criticized for his lapses and did not run for a second term. He died of brain cancer just over a year after he left office.
Maybe this guy is sick.
If so, then he has my sympathy for his illness, but that does not mitigate his responsibility for the words that come out of his mouth and he should. at a minimum, not be on the committee.

I don't care what kind of medication you are on, there's no explaining that way.

Re: Our Elected Leaders
If the guy is sick and it is effecting his brain I feel sorry for him but as stated before he should step down. If he still thinks that he is mentally capable of holding office his party should stand up and remove him, especially after a comment like that. Letting somebody like this whether he is this dumb or if he is sick hold office is the type of irresponsible crap that we should not let happen.
Re: Our Elected Leaders
There was probably 30 of that guys supporters in the back room thinking they were going to get the Admiral with that question until they figured out the can't tip over. He was more than likely sitting in his bathrub with his rubber ducky when he though of this.
I saw an article on some website that said this guy was just joking and trying to make the Admiral laugh.

The party is not going to do anything that will alienate that block of voters anymore than they are going to do anything to alienate their voters (and their relatives) from SOB (South of the Border).
BTW, I'm fed up with congress and both parties!

Maybe that question was a disgruntled staffers way of saying "I quit."

I tend to shy away from political threads for the most part but I finally gave in and opened this one.....I really dont know what to say.
The first thing that came to mind was my HS speech teacher who told us to watch ESPN and wait for an athlete interview and see how many times they say "uhh" or "umm" during the interview, he said thats the first sign of a poor education. Guess he was right.
This guy is a piece of work, thats for sure.
