New holster!

Post by silverbear »

Just got this holster which is similar to the supertuck and jnd tactical design. I almost went with the jnd but something about the kydex mold didn't look right to me, although I hear they are great holsters. Anyway the maker of this holster is a known as "kwart" on the glocktalk forums. He's a really nice young man and stands behind his work. If you don't like it, you get a full refund, no questions asked.

Fit and finish on the holster is very good - its hard to tell on the picture. My g26 snicks right in, with good retention but no adjustment. This design will hold a 19 as well (and the 23/27's). After adjusting for cant and playing around with positions, I found that the front end of the 3 o'clock position worked best for me. The 26 grip (with +2 extension) tucks into my side and disappears really well. I also liked it at the 4 o'clock position, but to get it do disappear I need to adjust the belt clips to have it ride really low and I didn't like not having full contact on the grip for the draw.

For the price, $50 shipped, I'm really happy with the purchase. :thumbs2:

Let us know how well it breaks in and "molds" to your body. I might be interested myself!

It is hard to tell from the picture, but is it a leather backing with kydex mold?

Yes, exactly. If you look on glocktalk, he has some pictures of the leather in natural that show the detail a little better.

Will do. So far the leather has not been stiff or uncomfortable when on.

I have a Minotaur MTAC with bodies for both my SIG 239 and 220. I want one for a SIG 1911, but Comp-Tac doesn't make one. So I'm thinking of making a body out of kydex and try to fit it to the MTAC leather backing. I might now try to get a hold of this guy, but my guess is he wont be able to make the body.

I saw an update on Minotaur's webpage today that said they are beginning to ship 1911 leather backings, but I don't know about the kydex. I'm not sure why they would ship the leather backing if the kydex weren't available. i dunno.
