Good News
Texas has almost wiped out a backlog of concealed handgun permit applications. Department of Public Safety officials said Wednesday (4/7/10) 34 applications are considered late, down from about 8,300 in August 2009.

Re: Good News
Not trying to sound bitter, but I guess my wife and I are 2 that are part of the 34 late applications.
It's been 44 days since we mailed our packets. I emailed the state 2 weeks ago and was told, "Application is near completion. Thank you for your continued patience." Since nothing has changed, I emailed them again yesterday. Again I was told, "Application is near completion, yada yada yada."
But thank you for posting, it does give me a lil' hope.

Re: Good News
Sorry to hear that! Waiting for the Application complete status is the worst part of the whole process I think. Hope you and your wife get your confirmation soon!txcshooter wrote:Not trying to sound bitter, but I guess my wife and I are 2 that are part of the 34 late applications. It's been 44 days since we mailed our packets. Re: Good News
That is good news. It took me nearly 5 months from the time I mailed my packet to the time I got my license. There were no problems with the application, I was just in the middle of the CHL rush apparently.

Re: Good News
Just to be fair to DPS, you are not late. Anything beyond 60 days is late. You're only at 44 days...txcshooter wrote:Not trying to sound bitter, but I guess my wife and I are 2 that are part of the 34 late applications. It's been 44 days since we mailed our packets. I was going to say the same thing. Mine took about 72 days, if I recall correctly.pbwalker wrote:Just to be fair to DPS, you are not late. Anything beyond 60 days is late. Re: Good News
If your license is late, call your local rep. I called mine, and within half an hour I got a call from Austin saying that her office called and asked for it to be expedited. I was told that they would get it in the mail the next day, that when an official calls them, they have to put that app on the top. Of course that meant someone else's was getting delayed too.....

Re: Good News
I think it took me close to 3 months in the spring of '09...somewhere between 2 & 3. Honestly, I wasn't counting. I was helping my boss and a very close friend and I did have to call Austin several times for them and...they both got theirs a few days before mine came. I know it must seem forever but eventually that day will come.

Re: Good News
This will make my wife happy. After months of procrastination she FINALLY finished the paperwork. The fact that she may have a 3 week turnaround is almost mind boggling to me, after mine took right at 90 days last Feb-May.

127 days from DPS getting the packet to processing complete.
132 days from DPS getting the packet to plastic in my hand.
And I thought that was great! Man it sucked here in Harris County last year. If only I was born years earlier.
