NOT SURE, DID I CARRY ILLEGALLY

Post by aaangel »

Help me out with this one. last week i went with my wife and daughter to an Application Support Center here in dallas for her fingerprinting. At first i thought it was a federal building. so i left my gun in the car. There was no 30.06 on the door. i saw a sign listing all that was illegal.ie, no cellphone, no weapons etc..... it was funny because as soon as we walked in, my wife turns to me and said " hon! go back to the car". i knew right away what she ment.....

It is not legal to carry in any federal building or in a parking lot. If this was immigration they are federal and CHL is not legal. Welcome to the forum.

It is generally illegal to carry weapons in a Federal "Facility" under Title 18 US Code Section 930. However, the federal law definition of a facility does not seem to include the parking lot. Also, there is a posting requirement for the buildings/offices which seems to preclude a conviction if not followed, although the OP noted that the building/office was posted.

Immigration offices are Federal Office and it is illegal to carry under CHL.
