I have collected a lot of .40 S&W .38 sp and 9mm brass. I plan to start reloading in the fall. So, here's the question...
Can I clean the brass now and put a 100 in a plastic bag til the fall. I have about 1000 rounds of each and I just have them in a plastic box. Will it stay shinny for that long..
I want to sort them by headstamp and have them ready to load..
Thanks for your input...

Re: Cleaning Brass
I have brass in old tumbling media plastic containers that I cleaned 4 or 5 years ago and it is still shines.
I keep my rifle calibers separated by brand but all my handgun brass is dumped together. Handgun brass (other than large magnum calibers) are just too high volume for me to separate.

Re: Cleaning Brass
Put a capful of NuFinish in your media when you clean. The shine will last for years.
Re: Cleaning Brass
As long as you keep them in sealed bags they should last for years. Exposed to humidity then they start to tarnished.
I also just toss all my brass in bags, usually 500 to a gallon sized ziplock, mixed headstamps.

Re: Cleaning Brass
I keep mine in large glass jars - from pasta sauce, fruit, peanuts, whatever has decent volume and seals up well. I have brass that I tumbled when I first started in January that's still sparkly.
Re: Cleaning Brass
I put some liquid Turtle Wax in my media it helps clean and the slight coating of wax seems to help prevent tarnish. I use Turtle Wax because it's the cheapest liquid auto polish I can find.

Re: Cleaning Brass
I bought a big stash of plastic shoeboxes at an estate sale.
This is my "working" stack. I have 20 or so of these full of brass in the storage closet.
They hold 800-1,600 each depending on the brass. The lid is snap off and makes them stack together really nice.
