Thanks for the reply. I don’t know about being spoiled, but I had forgotten how things are in some other places. The situation with paying someone to watch your car used to exist in Nuevo Laredo. I don’t know if it still does or not. In some places even in Texas, power is also first and foremost to be challenged at your own risk.
Texans are a little more independent and self reliant than folks in some other parts of the country and most still have a strong sense of right and wrong.
In order to have freedom, one must be willing to fight for that freedom and to make
whatever sacrifice is necessary to win and maintain that freedom. In most cases one person cannot do it alone or even a small group cannot succeed without the support of the majority.
The power structure in Chicago or any state in the union, or country in the world, could not continue to exist without the majority of its citizens being too afraid or complacent to challenge it. Your post describing Chicago could easily fit Mexico or some other third world country.
The citizens of Chicago should stand up and make it clear to the city government
who really holds the power. Texans are not fortunate, lucky or blessed. Texans have been willing to fight and sacrifice to gain independence from Mexico and forge the greatest state in the union.
I am not saying Texans have any more courage than those living in Chicago or any other place in the U.S. I am however wondering how much worse the situation has to get before the citizens stand up and take back their city.
I am in no way advocating violence as a means to these ends, but maybe it is high time the voters got rid of the “Mayor Daleys” of this country.
They owe that to their children and grandchildren.
I will now step down from my soap box and take my blood pressure medication.
