So. Crazy lady stabs people in Target store. Panic ensues. Luckily, off-duty PO draws gun to stop the stabbing. Unluckily, the PO is in CA, so everybody thinks he's a madman with a gun and panics more.

I predict the wise poplace of California will enact two new laws:
1) Off-duty POs must be disarmed. No fair having them scare people even more while there are criminals about. Might also confuse real cops. Can't be having that.
2) Knives longer than one half inch must be made of easily breakable plastic (made from post-consumer recycled materials) and may not exceed 2" in length. Anybody in posession of metal knives under 1/2" in length must get approval from the local sheriff or will be imprisoned for Felony Posession of a Stabby Thingy.

Speedy recovery to the injured, glad I've never been stabbed. My favorite part is how the AP thought it necessary to mention that the off-duty LEO was authorized to have have a gun:

...a five-year veteran of the department, was authorized to have a weapon in the store.

My head hurts enough from the ignorance in the comments section that I legitimately have a headache. Worst yet...

...the 2nd amendment MUST be repealed...

Is history class so watered down that nobody remembers why that amendment is there in the first place?

I go to Target. I'm generally armed. If not, a can of black beans up side the head, would tend to discourage such behavior, IMHO.

No kidding. A can of anything upside the head would have stopped her. I don't get why nobody picked up something and beaned that crazy lady. I would have hit her so hard she would have moved backwards in history.

same thing happened in Plano, about 6 months or so ago. lady went into a dollar general, found the kitchen knife section and proceeded to walk around the store shanking folks. i believe she got 2-3 before everybody got away from her and she was arrested.
