WA: CHL holder shoots the pooch
In Monroe, Washington, Tuesday, three dogs got into a scrap in a dog park. The owner of one of the dogs, who reportedly has a Washington CHL, reportedly shot one of the dogs.
The dog is expected to survive.

Re: WA: CHL holder shoots the pooch
I have often wondered if someone would ever do this.
I go to a dog park every weekend with my 2 dogs and not so often, but every once in a while, there is a nasty fight. I have thought, hmmm, "would I ever shoot a dog to stop a fight" but then thought that the weapon was better left holstered.
Maybe if I were to believe 100% that my dog were going to die, I might consider it, however, considering the mass of a dog, a through shot is quite possible, so hitting another dog is a possibility and so would hitting a person who was trying to break up the fight as well. So even then, I think it would be very hard to do that.

Re: WA: CHL holder shoots the pooch
The only reason I would anticipate shooting a dog in a fight situation is if that animal turned on me. If it did not, I would simply keep trying to extricate my dog and myself from the situation.

No, he didn't. I wonder if the only reason the officer didn't shoot is because a fellow officer was in the line of fire.SQLGeek wrote:I don't know...this dog didn't like it too much.

I don't have a problem shooting a dog. i know that if my dog was in a fight, more than likely it would be the other owners fault, as mine never goes off the leash. If I couldn't extricate my dog from the fight and I thought my dog was in danger of being killed, I'd shoot the other dog till it let go of mine.

Do you think that dog will go after another cop, or any other person for that matter?UpTheIrons wrote:No, he didn't. I wonder if the only reason the officer didn't shoot is because a fellow officer was in the line of fire.SQLGeek wrote:I don't know...this dog didn't like it too much.

That might have been what was needed for a little “aversion therapy”.
God Bless America, and please hurry.
