Teenager shot while allegedly trying to rob a taco stand

A 16-year-old is taken to the hospital after being shot while trying to rob a taco stand, police said. It happened late Thursday night at Monterrey Park off West Commerce Street on the city’s west side.

Investigators believe two people with a gun walked up to the taco stand and demanded money from the owner. That’s when police say the owner pulled out his own gun.

“The owner of the taco stand shot the actor instead of giving up money,” said Captain Chris Andersen with the San Antonio Police Department.

Andersen says, the 16-year old suspect was shot in the upper left side of his chest and collapsed to the ground. The other suspect ran into a nearby apartment complex, where police tell us he was arrested.

The 16-year-old was transported to the hospital and his condition is unknown.

Police tell us the taco stand’s owner is not facing any charges.

Maybe that 16 year old learned his lesson and will give up crime. At least we can hope.

My guess is he'll have some "time" to think about it so he won't have to make a rushed decision.

Maybe the other suspect was his dad. Or his brother.

Anyone know what the score is now?
Whatever it is, looks like the bad guys are losing. :clapping:
Burglary and robbery have become very hazardous occupations.
God Bless America, and please hurry.

Anyone who would rob a good taco stand needs to be shot. Good taco stands are a precious commodity.

I agree, a good Taco, or it's maker, should never be messed with!

I guess they're getting younger everyday? 16 years old?!? At least he might have learned his lesson early while there's still time to get his life on the right track.

He made the decision that the few dollars from the taco stand would be worth injury or death. Congrats to the owner for keeping his hard earned money. I believe that you can avoid kids with guns by teaching them early. I have taught mine and they have a profound respect for all of ours and would never(knock wood) have one in their hand unless facing a target in the back yard. But I guess some parents are just too busy to spend that kind of time with them.

IMHO, the owner just saved this kid from an inevitable life of jail,parole,jail,parole..and countless would be victims

Kids should be taught early and adults should already know that actions have consequences. I hope the Owner of the taco stand is not overly distraught over his actions. He did the right thing.

Wonder how the Brady Bunch will spin this?

Great job by the Taco stand Owner! :thumbs2:

I hope the kid survives and has learned a lesson.

Good work by the SAPD by not making any false charges and/or arrest of the Victim!
