This is complete and utter crap. IF the story is right I do not agree with the boy laughing at the mentally challenged student but this is waaaaay over the line.

I bet she feels like a real big "woman" now beating on a kid like that.

And other teachers watching...according to the report.

I just do not know what to say.

Let's be honest...we would have all prob thought to ourselves..."man, I sure would like to go strangle that little brat!"....but holy cow! To act on it?? Not cool!!
What I can't believe is that it went on for a full minute. The story also mentioned nothing about another teacher stepping in to halt the beat down...sounds like she's not the only one who should be getting in some hot water over this.

IF that video is the whole story (which it likely is not) the teacher went overboard and needs to get a job working with inanimate objects.

I spent 12 years in Catholic schools and had the snot smacked out of me a few times. I'm grateful for it. I don't know where I would be today otherwise. Probably begging for spare change at the bus station. Probably those teachers would be fired and prosecuted nowadays, but that was before Al Gore invented cell phone cameras and the internets. ;-)

But there's a humane way to do it, and then there's unnecessary force.

I still to this very day wake up screaming in the middle of the night while Sister Mary Leo is there, rapping her 3/4" dowel in the palm of her hand saying "show me your penmanship!" :rules:

Corporal punishment in the schools is not a bad thing. I, and many of my contemporaries, lived through it without physical or emotional scars.

This is not corporal punishment. This is assault and battery - by an adult on a minor!

3/4 inch is way too thick.

A flexible metal ruler is much more effective. The principal of my grade school had one that was called the "golden ruler." I don't know for a fact that anyone was ever hit with it. The legend was enough to turn would-be tough guys into quivering jelly.

I too spent 12 years in Catholic school and think that paddles should be brought back. I remember one teacher used to throw erasers at the students that were not paying attention. I have no problem with a teacher punishing a student that deserves it but there is a line that should not be crossed with students being punished by a teacher and this one crosses the line big time. This is a crime no matter what the kid did.

I was immediately impressed by the teacher's assumption of a stalking-stance and the aggressive implications thereof. I know I won't be trying to annoy that woman if I come across her.

Eh, I've been more violently attacked by my 8-year-old little brother...

I didn't see any suplexes, rainbow kicks, pile drivers or anything cool. I'd give this fight a 1.3 out of 10 for style. Lame.

All kidding aside, she isn't fit to be a teacher.
